Several prefectural governments in Japan, including Tokyo, Fukushima, and Tochigi, have adopted or are trialing the use of ChatGPT, a generative AI system developed by OpenAI. Tokyo Metropolitan Government allows employees to use ChatGPT for tasks such as summarizing documents and proposing ideas. Fukushima and Tochigi prefectural governments have also implemented the system. Additionally, 22 other prefectures are testing ChatGPT. However, the adoption of generative AI is more prevalent in the eastern regions of Tōhoku and Kantō compared to the western regions of Kansai and Kyūshū.
